I hate when that happens...

I was SOOO tired last night. We enjoyed an awesome bbq at our friends Shelby and Alshli's- they just had a baby too, so I guess it is a "playdate" for the parents. So after a night of steak, chicken, salad, grilled veggies and a lovely glass of white wine- I was out for the count. I fell right asleep. 3:30am rolls around and I wake up to go to the bathroom and can't fall back asleep...two reasons 1. Lady gaga's "Just Dance" was in my head from working out earlier and 2. I was thinking about paint colors and window treatments for our house!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH I hate when this happens. I can't turn my brain off and toss and turn to no avail. Finally around 4 I decided i might as well get up and get some stuff done around the house. So here I am, dishes done, kitchen reeeaalllly clean, 2 cups of coffee in, email checked, week planned and playdates scheduled. Paint colors and window treatments still undecided..grrrrr. I wish I could turn my brain off, but I know myself when this happens and I ussually just end up laying in bed listening to PJ breath and think about things. What do you do when you can't sleep, try to fight through or just get up??

Rollin like Spiderman!!

So, I thought it would be a great idea to buy Kash these spiderman skates, well since he LOVES spiderman (biderbo in Kash terms) and then kind of had to rethink it all when he wanted to sleep, eat, play, ride, hang all in the skates. For example, the day started liket this...

Hockey stick, helmet and all...
And ended like this....

Well at least if he falls off the couch he is safe. See I am a great mother- safety first folks!
Check out that gorgeous, angelic face.

Other Festivities...

We were lucky enough to venture to the zoo recently with Nani, Popi and Daddy!! We kicked off the day with some serious duck feeding... I not too keen and being so close to the "pond" and made PJ promise that he would jump in the deep, slimy, green duck water should Kash fall in. Luckily there was no falling in and the duckies got their fill!

The giraffes were especially friendly and are such gorgeous animals! I never cease to be amazed by God's beautiful work on these creatures, they are so cute and they never fail to entertain- our zoo may be small but it rocks!!

Presley...post poop explosion...yeah that's why she is so happy.

This pic is funny to me because out of nowhere on this zoo trip Kash was terrified of all birds!! I have no idea what got into him, my only thought is that the fact that PJ and he watched Jurasic park pre-zoo may have something to do with it!
Awesome pic!! Thanks for spending the day with us Nani and Poppi!
We have been so busy lately I am just craving my comfy bed! I will keep updating asap, but I find myself seeking sleep over surfing.
Also, my cousin's son was admitted to the hospital last Friday for RSV which is serious in babies and especially in preemies, which he was, so please keep baby Miciah and his family in your prayers!!

Zoo, Hockey, Picnic, Repeat

First off, I have to apologize, but this photo journey you are about to take has been posted backwards. I always forget how the images upload and well, it is backwards, so until I get another blogging host, you will have to deal with thinking in backwards terms. Therefore, we will recap the weekend journey from Sunday moving backwards.....

Sunday was Poppi Jeff's *9th birthday! He wanted to head up to Mt. Lemmon to celebrate, which is where Pj grew up as a child. It was GORGEOUS, upper 60's and sunny, but still some snow to play in. We had a picnic on a family friends' lot and got to visit all of our favorites. Debbie's store, good friends and smelled the cookie's from the cookie cabin...

Back up to Saturday night where we took Presley to her first Pro hockey game!!! Okay, so here I have to admit we are crazy..what were we thinking taking Kash to a full day of watching daddy play hockey to a pro hockey game sans nap? I don't know, I am still wondering how we thought this was a good idea. Actually it wasn't as horrible as I am making it sound, both the kids really were wonderful considering the circumstances and thankfully the hockey game ended right about the time Kash was done too. Here is our family in front of the huge mascot!

Earlier we went to an outside rink where PJ was in a hockey tournament...he did awesome and the tough guy manages to get a penalty in every period. We enjoyed miniature golf and pizza rink-side. We were also lucky enough to have both kids have diaper explosions within the first 10 mintue of arriving. I pulled Presley out of her carseat and wondered why her back and front were soaked...hmmm could it be a giant poop explosion on the first leg of the trip...well YES of course it was!! Once I got her a wipey bath and changed we headed in where Kash went from having a bone-dry diaper to having Lisa poke me in my side "Kodi Look" and there running down his leg and onto his sandels was a pee explosion. Lisa got a real treat since I was nursing and took on full mommy duty to take and change him into some dry duds. The day couuld really begin now that we got that all over, nothing like travelign with kids ;-0

Presley pre-poop explosion, enjoying the journey...

Me, passing the time...

It was tiring, but it was fun!!! We had such a great time with our friends and family- just knwoing the memories we are creating is so worth every diaper explosion, tantrum, break down, gas money, food money and a-hem speeding ticket.

Our Costco Trip

Went disasterously (is that a word) wrong...

They were out of the rugs I had been eyeing for quite a while now....

They did not have 3T in the outfit I wanted to get Kash for Easter...

Presley wanted to eat and we were scrambling to make a bottle when...

Kash peed by my estimate 40 ounces down his leg and onto the floor- he must have not been properly, ahem, tucked in.....

Pretty, soft green blankie wiped most of it up until we found someone to mark it and clean it while we ran to get cat liter and out the door asap.

There are days like these- I am just happy PJ was with me and we have cat liter :-)

We are surviving...

Here there are even pictures to prove it!! Although I still won't let you in my house if you drop by :-)

Presley gets bathed dressed and bowed on a regular basis.

Held more than half the day I think....

The cats get quality time with the family

Kash gets to read books everyday...

He is still pretty happy, even though he has to share with sister now

And sometimes, just sometimes we all get some rest...

People are like wine...better with age!

Thats what I keep telling myself anyways! 25 years ago at around 4:30pm a beautiful baby girl was born to Eddie and Marcia Benavidez. Marcia pushed Kodi Laine Benavidez into the world naturally all while Eddie swirled around her, a ussual tornado of energy and emotion! He was sure she was boy and even lost a bet in which the prize was his poor daughter, although in the end he chose to keep her. The video of this event shows my father with such high intensity of excitement it is humorous, he kept flipping his hat backwards, then frontwards, then backwards again, hands clapping, cheesecakes being promised in huge amounts to the staff and doctor from my sisters cheesecake shop; I think he even made skiing plans with the doctor. Meanwhile my gorgeous mom lies in the background probably a little annoyed but a little thankful for the distraction away from labor pain. I love this video and all the home videos thereafter, I love the youth in my parents faces, the pride they have in creating life, the love they show for each other with their simple glances and smiles. It makes me nastalgic for my childhood, I grew up in such a loving and safe home and I am so thankful to my parents for that. To this day I talk to my mom everyday and my dad every few days just because they are my best friends, they are truly wonderful, caring, giving people who make the world a better place to live. So yesterday, my birthday I just wanted a simple day with my family, my husband and my kids are the most important thing to me. I can only hope to give them the same type of loving memories and satisfaction of being loved and knowing it that my parents gave me. I can't believe that I am 25 years old, I feel 50 and 18 all it once and it is such a strange feeling to know that I have been around so long. But I will take it, I am happy to be alive everyday because someday I won't be, even now as I type this at 5 in the morning since I couldn't sleep since 3 when Kash woke up crying I am happy and thankful. For the messes and the tantrums, the singing and dancing and playing, the friendships and living that goes on under our roof.

It really is a great life! Here is to 26!
